Kitchen tap repairs and replacement
A dripping kitchen tap, a puddle around the swivel spout or water under the sink can point to three different repairs. Tell us where the water first appears and whether the tap is running.
What you might notice
- The kitchen tap drips from the spout after it has been turned off
- A few final drops may be water left in the spout. A persistent drip can mean a cartridge, ceramic valve or washer is no longer sealing.
- The swivel spout leaks when you turn it
- Seals around a moving spout can leak as it swivels. If the water starts around a handle instead, the control or its seals may need checking.
- There is a puddle under the kitchen sink
- Water may come from flexible tap tails, isolation valves, a pull-out hose or a waste connection. Note whether it appears while the tap is off, while it runs or when the sink drains.
- The pull-out spray hose leaks or sticks
- Water can escape at the handset connection or along the hose. We look at the fitting, the hose route and whether there is enough clearance under the sink.
- Only the kitchen tap has poor flow
- An outlet aerator, cartridge, hose or local valve can restrict flow. Tell us if it affects just hot, just cold or both sides.
Kitchen tap styles we assess
- Single-lever mixer
- One lever mixes hot and cold. The cartridge must match the particular fitting, even if two taps look alike.
- Twin-lever mixer or separate pillar taps
- Separate controls may use ceramic valves or traditional washers. We check the control, thread and valve type before choosing parts.
- Pull-out or spray mixer
- A leak in the spray hose or its connection calls for different parts from a dripping outlet. The model and space under the sink matter.
What we can do
We locate the likely source, check the accessible isolation valves and discuss a compatible repair or replacement. If the fitting is corroded, leaking in more than one place or the parts are unavailable, we explain the options. After agreed work we check operation and accessible joints.
Before you get in touch
A photo of the full tap and another under the sink can help. Include the make or model if visible and tell us whether you already have a replacement.

Agree and check the work
We explain what we find, agree any further work and check the affected plumbing afterwards.
Common questions
Can you replace the kitchen tap cartridge?
If the body is in suitable condition and we can identify a compatible cartridge, replacement may be possible. A photo alone may not show the exact part.
Do I need to buy a new kitchen tap first?
We can discuss a repair or replacement once we know what is leaking. If you already have a tap, send the model and any installation details.
Can you give me an estimate?
We discuss the work and the basis of any attendance or investigation charge before booking. Where the fault or access is uncertain, we may need to assess it first. We discuss any change to the agreed scope before additional work.
